Angband is a single player dungeon exploration game for an almost unlimited variety of platforms. There have been a great many versions of Angband over the years, such that even without the large number of variants which exist much that may be true of one version may not be true of another.
The essence of the game remains constant however: to win the game you must descend 100 floors through the dungeons of Angband and kill Morgoth, Lord of Darkness, encountering more and more powerful enemies and obtaining powerful items and artifacts. The game includes a town level to which the player may return to purchase items and equipment or store objects in their home.
